Moms of toddlers probably clean up the most messes at mealtimes. The journey to self feeding with utensils is paved with lots of smashed peas and food on the floor! We are just beginning to teach Luke to use a fork and spoon, but he is far from mastering these skills. Tinytongs is a new utensil specifically for toddlers that utilizes their pincer grasp to help them easily pick up food and get it into their mouths. We were sent a tinytongs to review. The tinytongs were created by Carys Bice, a mom with three children under the age of five. She set out looking for a way to make mealtime less stressful, less messy, and more successful for her children. After watching more food land on the floor than in her children's mouths, she created tinytongs to help bridge the gap between finger feeding and successfully eating with traditional utensils.
Our tinytongs experience has been interesting. While the tinytongs are recommended for ages 12 months and up, Luke is now fifteen months and has had a hard time figuring these things out, even after several attempts at showing him. I do think though, that within the next month or two he should be able to use them. He's still a bit young, and he's a boy. I can see the tinytongs being a big help over the next year with him.
