Scholastic Holiday Book Collection {Giveaway}

Sitting down and reading a good book with the kids and having cookies and hot cocoa by the fire is a favorite during this time of year. Now with Christmas right around the corner, we bring out the old favorites we've collected over the years. It seems every year our collection grows, with this year we have 2 Holiday books, "The Christmas Magic" and "The Nutcracker and The Mouse King".
Drosselmeier arrives on Christmas Eve with goodies for his godchildren. Marie immediately is drawn to the beautiful nutcracker prince. Little do they know that their new toys will come alive! Marie is swept off her feet on an incredible journey with the Nutcracker in this astonishing classic story by E.T.A. Hoffman.

My favorite Holiday traditions are spending Christmas Eve at my Hubby's family eating Mexican then coming home and letting DD open one present before going to bed. Then in the morning we have Cinnamon rolls and orange rolls and open gifts before going to my parents. It's the same every year:)

My favorite holiday tradition would have to be baking cookies and candies with my girls, my mom, aunts, grandmas, etc. All of us girls get together a few weeks before Christmas and bake until we can't bake anymore. We have such a good time together - and get a yummy reward in the end!

My favorite holiday tradition is actually fairly new... after my son is in bed, presents out under the tree, bites taken out Santas cookie and raindeer droppings on the porch...my DH and I enjoy the quite night. Crackling Fire and Christmas tree lights ...and a brief moment of peace.
My favorite holiday tradition is cooking seafood gumbo on Christmas eve, then opening one present! Going to bed in anticipation, waiting on Santa Clause!

Our tradition started when I was a little girl. We were allowed to open just one gift on Christmas Eve. That gift was always some new PJs to wear that night and for Christmas morning. I carried that tradition on to my children. My adult daughter has now carried it on to my granddaughters. And my young daughters always look forward to it too. 3 generations later we carry on the cuddly/cozy tradition.

Our favorite holiday tradition is the visit of Elf Magic elves! They visit every year. Each morning, the kids wake up and the elves are hiding in a different spot! They love to find them and play with them.

We open our stocking first on Christmas morning, have breakfast and then open presents under the treee. It's a nice way to prolong the holiday magic!
We take our daughter to see the beautiful lights at Rock City Enchanted Gardens every year.

We love to gather by the tree on Christmas Eve and each open one gift and read the Christmas story from the Bible. It's nice to do this before all the frenzy of Christmas morning sets in.

One tradition we have is making cookies. I bake the sugar cookies and the 5 grandkids gather around the table and decorate them any way they want. We then wrap them and they gift them to their parents.

One of my favorite traditions is getting together with my husband's family on Christmas Eve , having a big buffet , singing carols while my father in law plays the piano and then having present time. We've done it for years and it's amazing how much the family has grown!!

We are new at holiday traditions with my little family, but we love to do the "secret service manger" through the month of December. On Christmas Eve we talk about Jesus and put a "baby Jesus" in the manger. If the bed is soft, there was a lot of service done! Fun for kids!

Our Christmas traditions start on Thanksgiving when we set up our Christmas tree and lights. Then on Christmas eve we take time to bake our favorite holiday goodies and sugar cookies. Those are my two favorite times of the season.

On Christmas Eve, we drive through the local park, which is always beautifully decorated and has a Santa handing out candy canes. It was something my family did after Christmas Eve services, and something that has continued on to the grandkids.

For the last few years, my sweetheart and I have waited until New Year's Eve to exchange our gifts. We open presents from family and friends on Christmas Day, but our New Year's Eve gift exchange feels more personal.

Aside from the basic getting together, cooking, shopping, etc., I have a "tradition" with one of my best friends where we go to Starbucks on Christmas morning. It's something we randomly did a couple of years ago and enjoyed since not many people were there.

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is driving around looking at Christmas lights. We put on our pajamas (grab blankets if we need them) and sometimes a snack. Then we drive around and oh and ah at everyone's decorations! I love it!

My favorite thing is going to Callway Gardens for the festival of Lights. We ride an open air tram through all these beautiful light scenes. There's also a nativity on the beach, and lots of yummy hot chocolate. I am especially looking forward to this year because it will be my daughter's first year to go :)
